It's time to change our course on energy. Please join with us as we call for a new direction towards more clean energy to solve our dependence on oil and other fossil fuels, and reduce skyrocketing energy costs and global warming.

Dear Member of Congress:

America is at an energy crossroads. To solve our dependence on oil and other fossil fuels, skyrocketing energy costs and global warming, we need a bold, new energy plan for America. I urge you to speak out in favor of:

• Establishing aggressive standards for energy efficiency and clean, renewable energy.

• Reducing total U.S. global warming pollution at least 20 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050—the science-based reductions needed to protect future generations.

• Auctioning 100 percent of the pollution allowances, and using the revenue to invest in energy efficiency and renewable energy and to assist American consumers.

Saving national forests

Thanks to our federation’s work, more than 1.5 million citizens nationwide called on the Clinton administration to protect pristine areas in our national forests, resulting in the Roadless Rule. When the Bush administration attempted to overturn the rule, we worked with governors in seven states to petition to protect their forests.
